We are seeking an enthusiast Biomedical Scientist interested in joining our excellent team in the Blood Sciences Network for Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services. The department is UKAS ISO15189:2012 accredited and has IBMS training status.

The Blood Sciences service is a rapidly expanding part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Network, which is based on the hospital sites at Coventry (University Hospital), Nuneaton (George Eliot Hospital), Warwick (South Warwickshire Hospital) and Burton (Queens Hospital). CWPS is one of the largest Pathology Networks within the UK that offers a comprehensive range of Pathology services to a population of approximately 1 million residents and has a close relationship with the Medical school at Warwick University.

The network offers an excellent opportunity for those seeking employment in a modern, innovative and high-profile organization. The post is based at Warwick Hospital, however you may be expected to support other sites in the Network.

We are currently undertaking a major analyser procurement project which will see the development of a Blood Sciences Hub laboratory within our network supported by three essential service laboratories.

As part of this project we will be implementing a network digital imaging service and will be looking at new methods and technologies. The Blood Transfusion Department is currently installing and validating new platforms across the Network. This offers great career development and future opportunities.

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level (IBMS accredited) and be HCPC registered. You should be able to cope with working to deadlines in a busy environment and be able to work successfully as part of a team.

You should be a highly motivated, forward thinking individual helping to drive the service forward and provide a high quality clinical and technical service to meet the needs of our patients. You will be involved in the maintenance of the quality management system and maintenance of our accreditation and MHRA compliance.

The successful candidate will rotate through all sections of Blood Sciences and will be expected to participate in the laboratory’s 24/7 service. You will be expected to perform analyser maintenance, troubleshooting, technical validation and perform complex manual tests to ensure turnaround times are met. You must also be committed to continued professional development.
