Full time Post
37.5 hours / week

There is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and capable service engineer to join the radiotherapy physics team at Coventry. The successful candidate will join a team of specialist engineers providing repair, maintenance and development services to the Arden Cancer Centre (ACC). Duties will include all aspects of the repair and planned maintenance of medical linear accelerators and other treatment equipment but there will be a special emphasis on working with our Computer Scientists to complete networking and computing tasks. We are therefore looking for a candidate with good ICT skills as well as mechanical skills and knowledge of electronics and electrical engineering.

The ACC is equipped with five Elekta linacs, a Gulmay orthovoltage treatment machine and Elekta HDR brachytherapy after loader. All of our linacs are equipped with Agility heads and cone beam CT.  Manufacturer and in-house technical and scientific training will be  provided as required and candidates with experience of  alternative equipment are encouraged to apply. We are located on the University Hospital site at Walsgrave which is on the edge of historic Coventry with convenient transport to the city and easy access to rural Warwickshire, the M6 and the M69 motorways.

A degree or HND in electronics or engineering or an equivalent technical qualification and proven experience in radiotherapy engineering is required. Experience in networking and computing is essential but formal ICT qualifications although desirable are not required. Applicants with less experience may be considered and initially appointed on a lower band.
