We provide general acute hospital services to approximately 500,000 people from Coventry and Rugby and specialist hospital services to over one million people from Coventry, Warwickshire and beyond. The Trust has a revenue budget of approximately £473 million, we employ 5,639 staff, manage 1,380 beds and 32 operating theatres.

The Trust is made up of the following hospitals:

Hospital of St Cross – Rugby 

Applications are invited for this new and exciting Medical Oncology Consultant post, the principal duties of this post will be to develop and support the Breast and Gynaecology services.

The post will be based at University Hospital Coventry joining a dynamic and friendly team providing Oncology services across the Coventry & Warwickshire region.

UHCW NHS Trust has a dedicated Oncology ward (30 inpatient beds) and is home to the Arden Cancer Centre, a facility which has outpatient accommodation, chemotherapy suite (17 chairs), Radiotherapy department which has a total of 5 Elekta linacs (all with MLC’s and EPIDs) in line with the population of 1 million that it covers. In addition to the 5 bunkers that house the operational Linacs, the Trust has a further 2 bunkers, one of which houses a Betatron (electron beam) machine, and the other vacant and available for future expansion plans.

Our trust also has first class clinical trials unit. We currently have over 50 open trials, recruiting around 500 patients per year. Our Cancer Clinical Trials Research Treatment Centre is fully equipped for clinical research and provides a separate research area to enable us to give trial chemotherapy to our patients

We are nationally acknowledged for our excellent recruitment into trials, being first patient recruiter to many trials and meeting, or exceeded, recruitment targets in many other studies. We are diversifying our portfolio to increase the number of commercially funded trials and are building a reputation for commercial research delivery. From 1st April 2016, we have been offering cancer patients an opportunity to submit samples for analysis in the national 100,000 Genomes project.
