We are excited to announce this opportunity for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our renovated Department of Acute Medicine at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. When appointed, you will become part of new innovative developments in the provision of a first class service for the population of Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Department of Acute Medicine has recently undergone a major reconfiguration following the introduction of a new Urgent Care Model.
This has provided an opportunity for the Department of Acute Medicine to expand and develop its new identity as a leading service in the Trust. You will be able to join another 13 full time and part time consultants who have other specialty interests.
The department works in conjunction with a widely known tertiary centres in trauma, neurosurgery, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery. We are affiliated to Warwick Medical School which is one of the top 10 universities in England.
You will have the opportunity to lead in management, education, research, audit or various other aspects of the department. We are now looking for committed and enthusiastic clinicians to join the department in the acute medicine unit (AMU), short stay unit, medical decision unit (MDU) and ambulatory emergency clinic (AEC) to improve the services and increase engagement with other specialties. In 2017 we plan to develop a new extended care unit (medical HDU) which will provide further challenge to people interested in intensive care medicine.
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Trust requires further recruitment of Consultant Physicians in Acute Internal Medicine to continue to deliver this rapidly developing programme of medical care. The service is closely integrated with both Emergency Medicine and Medical Specialties and there is a great deal of flexibility as a result of these relationships.
Candidates should have affiliation with the General Medical Council and hold CCST in General Internal Medicine or be eligible for CCST within six months or have alternative certification at the time of the interview.
There will be superb and extensive opportunities for teaching and academic collaboration through our partnership with Warwick Medical School.
Coventry and Rugby are pleasant locations situated in the West Midlands and within easy travelling distance of many major cities. The area has excellent transport links.
We are an hour from London by train. Birmingham International Airport is less than half an hour away by car and East Midlands Airport is a 40 minute drive north of Coventry. There are opportunities for a wide variety of lifestyle and interests and the area is renowned for good housing and schools. Consultants working with us live in Coventry, Rugby, Leicester, Solihull, Kenilworth, Warwick, Birmingham and surrounding villages.
